Description:
Captain Bartolomeo Thobias Red is considered the greatest of pirates. A man who feared no one and nothing. Invincible at sea, he plundered countless prizes. Invincible on land, he won countless duels. Invincible in love conquests, he supposedly seduced the wife of the Spanish King Charles II Habsburg and the Queen of England, Ireland, and Scotland - Mary II Stuart. It is even said that he almost caused the downfall of one of the great European dynasties when he was caught with the daughter of the Doge of Venice. It is also said that he spat in the face of Lucifer himself, which he ultimately paid for with his life. Unfortunately, only he knows the truth in all the tales about Bart Red, but he's no longer alive to tell it.
History:
Bartolomeo Thobias Red was born into an English family, the impoverished nobleman Thobias Redgrave. Due to persecution from Protestants (Thobias was a fervent Catholic), the Redgraves were forced to change their surname to Red and flee the country. Eventually, after a long journey, they settled in Venice, where Bartolomeo Thobias Red was born. His father was employed in the office of the Doge of Venice, elevating the Red family's social status and wealth. Young Red received a proper education and was also prepared to work as a bureaucrat.
Unfortunately, the young man's difficult character thwarted his parents' plans. Bartolomeo increasingly disappeared for days, associating with dubious company and getting into endless quarrels. At that point, his father decided to send him to serve in the Doge's Palace Guard. Initially resistant to his father's will, Bartolomeo eventually became one of the most distinguished guardsmen and a master of the Schiavona (an Italian rapier with a distinctive basket). Many predicted a rapid promotion and a skyrocketing career in the guard. However, he did not live to see a promotion or a career. Shortly after being appointed, young Red lost everything he had worked for and had to escape, far beyond the borders of Venice. All because of a hot heart and passion. One afternoon, Bartolomeo Red was caught in bed with the Doge's daughter by the Doge himself. Completely naked, tied to the bed with stockings. With the said daughter. Completely naked, swinging upside down on a chandelier, and teasing his manhood with her tongue. The Doge, unfortunately, couldn't withstand the sight and suffered a heart attack. That's when all Red had left was to flee.
For some time, Red wandered the Old Continent, engaging in various adventurous activities, usually associated with breaking the law. Eventually, he settled for a while in the United Provinces, where another twist of fate began his career in the Dutch merchant fleet. Thanks to a few wise decisions, Bartolomeo became an incredibly wealthy member of the merchant guild in Amsterdam in just three years. This allowed him to rise to the heights of aristocratic society in the United Provinces. There, he could finally spread his sails and take the lead in what he did best: seduction, feasting, drinking, and revelry. Once again, however, he was unable to stay in one place for long. During one of the lavish banquets, the Princess of Orange (and later the Queen of England, Scotland, and Ireland) - Mary II Stuart, accidentally impaled herself on his "personal rapier". She liked this "impaling" so much that the couple didn't leave the bed for a week. They would probably have spent more time there, but unfortunately, it was not well-received by Mary's husband, William III of Orange. As soon as he caught the lovers, he ordered the guards to apprehend Red, but he quickly slipped away like a deer through the palace window. Unfortunately, only a distant escape could save him from William's wrath. Without hesitation, Bartolomeo decided to steal the fastest ship in the Dutch fleet and sail it to the New World. As he thought, so he did, and he kidnapped the "Royal Carriage" - the most advanced galleon in the royal fleet. Dutch captains knew there was no point in pursuing him. None of their ships could catch the "Royal Carriage". The ship was so valiant and excellent that after its loss, Prince of Orange ordered to build an exact copy named "Royal Transport".
And so, Bartolomeo Thobias Red arrived in the New World. Due to his rich history and vast life experience, it was only a matter of time before he became a legend of the Caribbean Sea. As legends go, it's hard to estimate what in their biographies is true and what is just a plain lie. The same fate befell Red. Since arriving in the Caribbean, nothing is certain about him. Only that incredible luck accompanied him, and every expedition ended in success. Puerto Corsario in the Ruby Archipelago became his home port, where he quickly gained the respect of the locals and made new enemies. Many rumors circulated about him. That he is 1/4 Auxilico and comes from a lineage of Indian rulers. That he owed his fortune to offering sacrifices of gold and precious stones for the prosperity of future expeditions. That he won a fencing duel with Davy Jones himself. That the gas he released after eating stale pork caused an earthquake that swallowed part of Port Royal. Lastly, that he sold his soul to the devil and when the devil came to take it, he spat in Lucifer's face.
However, no one truly knows the truth about Captain Bartolomeo Red or his death. They say he died as he lived - gallantly, with his head held high, laughing danger in the face.
Personality:
A rebellious rogue. Dislikes conventions and discipline. Narcissistic type - arrogant and conceited, he liked to boast excessively. Faced with real danger, he would more often choose escape than confront it. However, he always got away with it. Incredible coincidences, charisma, and an innate talent for lying allowed him to turn every defeat into success. As a result, he was seen by others as fearless, unbeatable, and outstanding. In reality, he was weak, insecure, and avoided responsibility at all costs.
Appearance:
A handsome blond with blue eyes. Hair was rather short, slightly messy. Slim, well-built. A typical ladies' man. Overly concerned about his appearance, somewhat metrosexual. He dressed flamboyantly, gaudily, in bright colors. Liked jewelry - wore an earring with a pearl and signet rings. Often adorned himself with scarves, adored lace, almost always wore a jabot. Rarely wore headgear, but when he did, it was an impeccable tricorn adorned with a feather. Attached large brooches with precious gemstones to his sash. Wore white stockings and shoes with large, metal buckles.
